Best Bluetooth Wireless Speaker

The best Bluetooth speaker will let you enjoy your favorite music just about anywhere. These portable wireless speakers are ideal for jamming out wherever you like, whether you're partying by the pool or enjoying a weekend camping trip.

Improvements in Bluetooth technology meant that they're able to offer a very capable audio experience in their own right. Further, improvements in the battery technology and capacities means that you don’t have to worry about charging these speakers for days.

In addition to this, there are several good Bluetooth speakers in the market that come integrated with Google Assistant and Alexa, so you can actually do more than just listen to songs now.

The best Bluetooth speakers don't sacrifice on sound quality, either. Some offer impressive, room-filling, 360-degree sound while other models can be connected together and used as a stereo pair in a more traditional configuration. Whether you're on a tight budget or have money to burn, there's a model in this list that'll sort you out.

Best Bluetooth Wireless Speaker In 2020

1. UE Megaboom 3

There are bigger and badder Bluetooth speakers, but none match the fun and convenience of the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 (9/10, WIRED Recommends). It puts out some of the most pleasant, balanced sound for its size. The waterproof cylinder comes in multiple colors, it can last 15 hours between charges, and it gives you 100 feet of Bluetooth range. On top of all that, it has a two-year warranty. If you really need to get a party kicking, the Megaboom 3 is a beefier model that amps up the bass.

Customer reviews

After several months of online research and comparative shopping, I stumbled upon the UE brand and their line of boom speakers. Luckily I did. I'm pleased to say after owning this model for several months now, I couldn't be any happier. This purchase meets all of my high and rigorous criteria and delivers in sound and performance. So much so, it beats even the luxury line of Bluetooth speakers like Bose. With the accompanying app and a strong name to stand behind their products, you can find no other greater value in a speaker for your daily needs.

2. Tribit MaxSound Plus

Tribit may be a brand you haven't heard of, but its line of Bluetooth speakers sound a lot better than they should for the price. The MaxSound Plus ($56) is my favorite model. It has dual forward-firing drivers and passive radiators in an 8-inch-long pill shape. No, it can't fuel a trance dance party on its own, but its sound clarity really impressed me, and it has a fun extra bass button that adds some surprising thump. The extra bass is a little muddy, and sure, it looks a lot like a Beats Pill+, but it's still fun.

Why We Chose This

  • Sound that Satisfies - MaxSound Plus' audio experience appeals to casual listeners and audiophiles alike. The advanced Texas Instruments amplifier modules, audio processing tech, and larger drivers pump out a fully articulate sound at all volumes.
  • Bass that Booms - MaxSound Plus Sound is all about big bass vibes. Tribit's exclusive XBass technology with world-class low-frequency drivers and DSP algorithm tuned to maximize bass frequency output while preserving its mix accuracy.
  • Seriously Waterproof - Portability is incomplete without the ability to weather the elements. With IPX7 waterproof, MaxSound Plus gives you the confidence to enjoy your music even in the most humid or wettest of conditions.
  • 20-Hour Playtime - Don't let a long daytrip stop you from bringing a soundtrack - with up to 20 hours of battery life you can have the playlist going all day. Enjoy great music with the freedom of portability without the fuss of entangled power Cords.
  • Pair and Play - Move freely around with your smart phone without worrying about dropping your music. MaxSound Plus wireless speaker offers an incredibly robust secure connection and lossless wireless sound at a range of up to 100 ft.

Customer reviews

Great portable speaker period. Volume and sound quality are excellent for the price... don't believe me, do your homework and look up any number of online reviews besides Amazons (not that Amazon would lie - all praise Amazon). I use it now instead of earphones when working in the garage. Strongly recommend... btw, its waterproof for those of you that feel the need to keep it close to sources of water (for whatever reason) and are about as co-ordinated as a brick through a window.

3. JBL Charge 3

JBL is a very well-known name when it comes to audio accessories, and the company maintains its reputation with the Charge 3. Customer reviews

I was initially confused between the Charge 3 and the Bose SoundLink Color II. However, after checking some reviews on YouTube I decided to go for the the JBL. The sound signature is amazing - a bit biased towards base but not over the top. However at full volume the base output seems to reduce.

Overall clarity wise I feel Bose might have been slightly better but then the Color series has too many customer complaints where people faced issues with connectivity which swayed my decision. Also the Charge 3 is much much louder, has a better battery backup and one of the best features is it can pair with another Charge 3 and play in Stereo mode.

Trust me if your friend/ family has one (a friend of mine got the Grey one after I got mine) and you pair them you will be blown away. The stereo separation is great and I feel for the price (I paid 8.5k during Republic day discount) these speakers are a must buy.

The battery backup has been better than I expected lasting for almost 2-3 weeks with 3-4 hours playback (I don't feel the need to go over 50% volume). One more thing, I wanted Black ones but Amazon wouldn't ship the Black one to my Whitefield address so had to go for the Red one. But I love the Red color now :)

4. JBL Flip 5 20 W IPX7

The Flip 5 is waterproof to an IPX7 rating, boasts a 12 hour battery life and has a USB-C charging port, meaning it goes from flat to fully juiced in just 2.5 hours. It's a pleasure to use and scores highly for portability, with a wrist strap that slips comfortably over our hand. There's also a PartyBoost button that helps you pair two PartyBoost-enabled speakers to create a stereo pair, or link over 100 PartyBoost-compatible speakers in mono.

Why We Chose This

  • Sounds better than ever
  • Bring the party anywhere
  • IPX7 Waterproof
  • Crank up the fun with PartyBoost
  • A rainbow of colours

Customer reviews

I had my sights set on the JBL Flip 4 for a long time but the price was the main deterrent. Finally found it at a good discount on the Amazon Sale. Was pleasantly surprised to see the new JBL Flip 5, and that too at an amazing discount. Didn't think twice and went for it.

Absolutely stunning sound. Have paired it with my Amazon FireTV and the results are awesome. Fast charging and around 10 hours of continuous usage. Make sure that you use a compatible charger though (5V-3A). Unlike the Flip 4, the Flip 5 does not support voice calling, but for me that is a negligible feature. Over all very happy with the product.

5. Marshall Stanmore Multi-room

the Marshall Stanmore is takes the crown for the best sounding speaker on this list. It’s large, so it’s very rarely going to leave the house. But if you’re looking to have a party or just want to fill your room with the sound of music, this is one of the best Bluetooth speakers out there. Partly because (and this might be cheating a bit) along with Bluetooth 4.2, you can connect to it via your WiFi network thanks to Spotify Connect, Chromecast built-in, and Apple AirPlay compatibility.

Why We Chose This

  • Easily set up your single or multi-room wireless system in just a few Steps
  • Connect wirelessly with Chromecast built-in, Spotify connect, airplay or Bluetooth, or go wired with a 3.5mm jack or RCA cord
  • With seven one-touch pre-sets

  • Using multiple Marshall multi-room speakers you can wirelessly play different songs in each room or bring it all together and play the same song throughout the entire home

First up from Sony is the XB10 Portable Speaker. This is the type of Bluetooth speaker to check out if you are looking at the smaller end of the spectrum. Customer reviews

This speaker is very nice, with good quality and features. I was looking for something robust to take to the beach, with loud volume, and long battery life, but also light weight and with just the right size. This speaker has all these features. The sound is very loud and without distortion, even at the maximum volume.

The build is of high quality, as it is always the case with SONY products, and it looks very nice too. The bluetooth pairing is very easy, and the controls are intuitive. I particularly like the added detachable support, which allows to place the speaker horizontally greatly enhancing the sound quality.

Also, while the speaker is at maximum volume and even standing vertically, the rubber bottom keeps it steady without vibration. Overall this is an excellent speaker to carry anywhere outdoors, or to just use indoors, and it is very recommended.
